This is not an entry-level marketing position.

We need someone who has run their own program — owned the calendar, hit the deadlines, managed the inbox, and delivered results without being reminded. You’ll report directly to the General Manager and Director of Membership at one of southern Maine’s premier private clubs.

The Marketing Manager is a sales role. Everything you do — every email, every event promotion, every piece of content — exists to drive membership growth, increase event participation, and keep current members engaged and spending. You own the program. The results are yours.

What You’ll Own

Member engagement and retention — track member usage across all facilities, identify resignation risks early, personally intervene on at-risk memberships, and onboard every new member. No one falls through the cracks.

Communications — manage the club website (public and private sides), build and send all email campaigns on schedule, maintain the event calendar, manage event registrations and billing, and keep all digital content current. You write, you build, you send.

Revenue growth — generate new membership leads, drive event attendance, increase dining and facility usage through targeted campaigns. You will be evaluated on your ability to move the needle — in membership, events, and general club revenue.

Online reputation and brand — manage the club’s digital presence and produce content that positions FCC as the premier club in the Portland market.

Content creation and visual storytelling — photograph club events, capture course conditions, document the dining experience, and produce short-form video content for social media and member communications. You are the club’s visual storyteller. Strong photography and videography skills are essential — this role creates the images and video that drive every campaign, social post, and member touchpoint. No stock photos. No reposts. Original content that shows what this club actually looks and feels like.

Accounts receivable support — member billing inquiries, payment follow-up, account management.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of marketing experience in hospitality, private clubs, hotels, or a membership-based business. Not your first rodeo.
  • You think like a salesperson. Every campaign has a goal, every email has a purpose, and you can connect your work to actual revenue.
  • You’ve managed a communications calendar end-to-end — email campaigns, website content, event promotion — and hit your deadlines without being chased.
  • Strong photography and video production skills. You own a camera (or know your way around one), you can shoot and edit event coverage, course content, and food & beverage photography. Proficiency with Adobe Lightroom, Premiere Pro or Final Cut, and basic Photoshop is expected. Drone certification (FAA Part 107) is a plus.
  • CRM or membership management system experience. You’ve tracked leads, managed pipelines, or run retention programs before.
  • Comfortable with website CMS platforms. You can update content, manage registrations, and troubleshoot without calling IT.
  • Strong written communication. You’ll write member emails, web content, and marketing copy regularly. Polished and professional without being stiff.
  • Thick skin. Members have opinions. Events go sideways. The GM needs something by end of day. You handle pressure without drama.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $65,000 salary — compensation reviewed at six months based on performance and results
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (club contributes 70%)
  • One week PTO first year, two weeks after

  • Expect 45+ hours per week during peak season

This position is on-site at Falmouth Country Club. You’ll work alongside the Member Services team, interact with members daily, and be present for events.
